I am a 26-year-old legally blind artist based in Central Ohio. I have been designing, building and altering things since the age of three. As a child, I was constantly unhappy with the lack of detail in children's toys; and to the dismay of my parents, I was always ripping apart and altering toys in hopes of improving them.
What I do now isn't all that much different, except that I am allowed to use power tools and use harsh chemicals -- projects are much more intense these days!
I design, build, and modify an unsually wide variety of things. From music instruments, to clothing, to children's toys; to anything else you can dream of -- no project is too basic or too complex.
Much of my work is based around or inspired by an unusual combination of things, such as prehistoric life, petrified wood, Bauhaus design, modular structures, recycling old materials, Formula One racing, poppy flowers, baobab trees, musique concrète, copper, anatomical models, natural fibres, exotic leathers, giraffes, ostrich and emus, Neapolitan tailoring and high-end hand-made clothing in general, Nirvana's In Utero (in general -- audio and visuals, live stage design, etc). and much more.
A lot of wood my work features an imitation petrified wood finish, which is featured in most of my guitar related projects. It is a very time-consuming process that involves many layers of paint to create depth to resemble actual petrified wood. I can apply this to any wooden item, in any colour or pattern.
